KVS Online Admission 2026-27: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has officially kicked off the admission process for the academic session 2026-27. Online registrations for Balvatika (pre-primary) and Class 1 began on 20 March 2026 at 10:00 AM and will continue until 2 April 2026. Parents aiming to secure a seat in one of India’s prestigious Kendriya Vidyalayas should act promptly and understand the complete process, eligibility norms, and schedule.
This year, KVS continues its transparent admission system, primarily using a computerised lottery (draw of lots) for Class 1 and Balvatika to ensure fairness. While Class 1 and select Balvatika admissions are fully online, other classes may involve offline processes depending on seat availability. Strict document verification will be carried out to prevent any fraudulent entries.

For Classes 2 to 8: Admissions are generally offline and granted only against vacant seats. Parents must submit application forms directly at the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya.
For Classes 9 and 11: Seats are limited. Class 11 admission is subject to Class 10 board results and availability of streams.
Reservation Policy
KVS follows the standard Government of India reservation norms:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) — 15%
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) — 7.5%
- Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) — 27%
- Children with Special Needs (CwSN) — 3% (horizontal reservation)
Additionally, 25% seats in Class 1 are reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for children from economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in the neighbourhood.
Priority Categories for Admission
KVS gives admission preference in this order:
- Children of Central Government employees (including defence and paramilitary)
- Children of employees of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Autonomous Bodies
- Children of State Government employees
- Other categories
Further preference is given based on the number of transfers of the parent in the last seven years.
